Tips For Making the Most of Video Poker
In video poker, cards are randomly dealt to the player. However, the
skill of the player can also influence whether play is successful or
not ... so video poker combines both luck and skill. Regardless of your
game play strategy, here are some points which may assist you.
Full Pay
Machines Only!
Play smart and check the payout schedule before you start playing, so
that you know how much you'll be paid for each winning hand. For example,
9/6 is considered full pay in a Jacks or Better game. In other words,
a Full House pays out 9 coins and a Flush pays out 6 coins. So you'll
win less money by playing at one of the many casinos which pay out less
than 9/6.
Play Max Coins!
Don't play fewer coins, thinking it will keep you in the game longer.
Many machines will give proportionately more coins for a Royal Flush
with maximal coins than they'll give for hitting with less than the
maximum. To avoid spending your bankroll too quickly, play a low coin
size. Remember, you can always play for free until you're ready to take
the plunge.
How Much
Are You Willing To Lose? Decide and Don't Waver!
Don't keep pumping in coins, convinced that your luck will change. Look,
some days are lucky and some aren't. Successful players understand this.
Decide beforehand what you're willing to lose and once that money is
gone, walk away. You can always come back another time.
Don't rush!
There is no time limit, so carefully review your cards at each hand
and don't let yourself feel pressured to make a move. Don't hit Draw
until you're well and truly ready. You don't get extra coins for speed.
Play for
Free!
Many online casinos offer "free play". So if you need to learn,
practise or gain more experience use these to develop your strategy
and skills before you hit the machines. Also take advantage of schools,
hints and tips offered by video poker sites.
